Atiku's Aide Criticizes Justice Lifu Over ADC Ruling

Paul Ib, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, publicly criticized Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court regarding a recent judgment that involved the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Ib described Lifu as a "misfit to the judiciary," asserting that the judge's handling of the case posed a threat to Nigeria's democracy.

He accused Lifu of targeting opposition political parties, particularly through a series of cases aimed at deregistering them. Ib argued that the government seeks to weaken opposition parties, creating conditions for political instability and chaos.

He referenced a recent court appeal decision and stated that Lifu is not qualified to serve in the judiciary, likening his judgment to that of a "beer parlour bench." This criticism comes amid growing controversy surrounding court decisions affecting opposition parties as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
