University of Ilorin and NNPCL Forge Strategic Partnership

The University of Ilorin, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewol, is in preliminary discussions with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), represented by Group Managing Director Bashir Bayo Ojulari, to form a partnership focused on research and development.

The meeting, held at the NNPC Tower in Abuja, aimed to explore the establishment of a center of excellence dedicated to engineering technology-driven research. This collaboration is expected to yield significant benefits for the Nigerian education system and enhance industrial-academic cooperation.

The partnership proposes to develop tailored training programs for students in the oil and gas sector, support small and medium enterprises in Kwara State, and implement social responsibility projects in education and healthcare. A joint strategic committee will oversee the partnership, with a deadline of four weeks to deliver a report.

This initiative is anticipated to attract top talent and improve the research capabilities of the University of Ilorin.
