Abubakar Mahmoud Receives Garkuwan Kano Title in Ceremony

Abubakar Balarab Mahmoud, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Kano State, was conferred the title of Garkuwan Kano by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II during a ceremony at the Emir's Gidan Rumfa Palace in Kano. This prestigious title symbolizes his role as a protector and moral guide within the community.

The event, which took place a week ago, attracted notable dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Kano Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, among others. The Emir described Mahmoud as a man whose life work embodies the ideals of protection and guidance in service to humanity.

Mahmoud's contributions to the legal sector and his advocacy for social justice were highlighted, particularly his efforts to defend the Kano Emirate's historical significance against political threats.
