ABA Hosts Coaching Clinic in Makurdi, Donates ₦400,000

The Amateur Basketball Academies (ABA) conducted a one-day coaching clinic in Makurdi, Benue State, on Tuesday, aimed at enhancing grassroots basketball development in Nigeria. The clinic, themed “Team Work,” took place at Royal Choice Hotel and attracted 11 coaches from eight basketball academies in the state.

This event was the third in a series following previous clinics in the Federal Capital Territory and Minna, Niger State. ABA President and Founder, Aliyu Lucky Abubakar, who is also the Deputy Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in coaching skills.

He expressed concerns about the current state of basketball in Nigeria and urged stakeholders to unite for the sport's growth. Abubakar donated ₦400,000 to the Secretary of the Benue State Basketball Association to support the registration of the participating academies.

The nationwide coaching initiative will culminate in a mega basketball tournament in Abuja later this year, showcasing talents from the academies.
