Ex-DSS Operative Reveals Cause of Abacha's Death

Denni Amachree, a former Assistant Director of Operations at the DSS, has claimed in his recently released memoir that former military head of state Sani Abacha died of cardiac arrest during an intimate encounter with a girlfriend, rather than from poisoned apples as previously speculated. Amachree, who was serving in the DSS command in Lagos at the time of Abacha's death on June 8, 1998, stated that the incident occurred around 4:05 AM at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to Amachree, the woman involved panicked upon discovering Abacha unresponsive and left the villa to request transportation back to her hotel. Efforts to trace her were made after Abacha's condition was reported to his chief security officer, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, around 5 AM.

Amachree's account contradicts various conspiracy theories surrounding Abacha's death, asserting that the woman's testimony, which he claims was corroborated, should put an end to the speculation that has persisted for nearly three decades.
