Amachree Refutes Claims on Abacha's Death by Eluemunor

Retired Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Dennis Amachree, has publicly countered journalist Tony Eluemunor's accounts concerning the death of former military head of state Sani Abacha. Amachree stated that Eluemunor's narrative is entirely incorrect, particularly as it pertains to Amachree's involvement.

This rebuttal follows a challenge issued by Amachree to Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), Abacha's ex-Chief Security Officer, to produce CCTV footage from the time of Abacha's death on June 8, 1998. Al-Mustapha had previously claimed in his book, ‘DSS @40: My Journey Behind the Shield’, that Abacha died from a coitus-induced cardiac arrest.

Amachree criticized Eluemunor for fabricating details, asserting that he was misrepresented regarding his role at the airport and his reporting structure within the DSS. He dismissed Eluemunor's narrative as fictional and urged him to focus on writing detective stories instead.
