Governor Alia Condemns Abande Market Attack, Orders Manhunt for Suspects

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has vehemently denounced the deadly assault carried out by suspected herdsmen on Tuesday at Abande market in the Turan district of Kwande Local Government Area. The attack reportedly left 17 people dead and others injured, with the assailants setting homes and market stalls ablaze.

In response, Governor Alia described the incident as a grave provocation and an act of terrorism against the state. He expressed deep sympathy for the victims and their families, assuring residents of the government's commitment to safety and peace.

The Governor has ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators and directed security agencies to intensify operations in the affected area to restore safety. He also emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance security coordination and ensure justice for the victims.

Governor Alia called for unity and solidarity among the people of Turan and Kwande, reassuring them of government support in overcoming the challenges posed by the attack.
