Abaribe Joins Labour Party Ahead of 2027 Elections

Enyinnaya Abaribe has officially switched from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, marking a significant shift in his political career. Abaribe's transition to the LP was disclosed by Emenik Iroegbu, the Abia State Public Secretary of the Labour Party.

This move comes just four months after Abaribe joined the ADC in December 2022, having previously left the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Abaribe, who has built his political career within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) since first entering the Senate in 2007, is currently serving his fifth term representing the Abia South Senatorial District.

His recent switch to the Labour Party is expected to alter the political landscape in Abia South, particularly as the party prepares for the upcoming 2027 general elections amid calls for power rotation within the constituency. Abaribe has yet to issue a personal statement confirming this latest defection.
