Court to Hear APC Congress Challenge in Taraba on April 29

The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba State, has set a date for April 29, 2026, to hear a suit challenging the outcome of the APC state congress. The case was initiated by Abdulhadi Haruna Lau, who alleges he was unjustly excluded from the candidacy process for the party's chairmanship.

Lau contends that the congress was neither transparent nor fair, claiming that the committee responsible for conducting the congress failed to properly engage with aspirants prior to the exercise. He argues that the congress was conducted without the knowledge of the aspirants and that the election committee did not meet the necessary grounds for contesting.

Lau expressed disappointment over the party leadership's failure to explain the alleged exclusion and stated that he had no option but to seek legal redress. The suit is marked as FHC/JAL/CS/5/2026 and was mentioned before Justice Mashkur Salisu, who adjourned the matter to the specified date.
