Taraba APC Crisis: Court Hearing Set for April 2026

The political crisis within the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified as the Federal High Court in Jalingo has set April 29, 2026, for a hearing on a suit contesting the results of the recent state congress. The suit challenges the emergence of Alhaji Abubakar Bawa as the state chairman.

Abdulhadi Haruna Lau, a chairmanship aspirant, alleges that he was unjustly removed from the process that produced the consensus candidate during the congress. Lau has taken the matter to court, claiming that the APC's internal processes lacked transparency and fairness, and that he was not informed of the appeal committee's decisions.

He expressed disappointment with the party leadership for not addressing the alleged exclusion from the caucus meetings that produced the consensus candidate. Lau insists that the congress process was not transparent and that he had no choice but to seek legal redress due to the irregularities he claims occurred.
