Kwara Governor Meets Army Chief Over Security Threats

On Monday, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq met with Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu to discuss the recent security threats in the state. This meeting was prompted by fresh attacks recorded in Ekiti State, particularly in the Yashikira community within the last 24 hours.

The governor emphasized the need to strengthen public safety measures and address emerging security concerns across the state. The discussions followed a deadly attack on a prayer ground in Ori Ok, Ajaiy, on Sunday, where gunmen reportedly killed three worshippers and abducted 15 others during a night vigil.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed that the attack occurred on Saturday night at a church where Pastor Adebayo Abiodun led the vigil. In response to the escalating threats, the state government has deployed tactical police squads to neutralize the threats and restore residents' confidence.
