AbdulRazaq Screened for Kwara Central Senatorial Seat

AbdulRazaq, the current Governor of Kwara State, has been screened for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The screening exercise occurred in Abuja on May 9 and May 10, 2023, conducted by the APC's screening committee to verify the eligibility of aspirants and ensure candidates are free from legal electoral encumbrances.

Bashira Kolawole, a senior aide to the governor, confirmed the development but declined to comment further on the outcome of the exercise. AbdulRazaq is currently the sole aspirant for the APC ticket for the Kwara Central Senatorial district.

He is expected to complete his two terms in office by May 29, 2027, and aims to remain active in the state's political structure after leaving office. Salihu Mustapha, who currently represents the Kwara Central Senatorial district, has obtained the APC governorship nomination form, which may facilitate AbdulRazaq's candidacy on the APC platform.
