Kwara Governor Mourns Victims of Building Collapse

On Tuesday, a three-storey building collapsed at No. 41 Popo Giwa Street, beside Gogoro Mosque, in the Popo Giwa/Abemi area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State, resulting in the deaths of four family members. Eight members were trapped, with four rescued alive.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed his sorrow over the tragedy in a Facebook post, stating he visited the injured victims and wished them a quick recovery. His administration is providing medical care and support to the survivors.

A delegation led by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, assessed the situation at the scene. AbdulRazaq commended first responders and community volunteers for their coordinated rescue efforts and linked the incident to the need for stricter construction safety compliance.

He urged residents to cooperate with authorities on safety matters and reaffirmed the government's commitment to enforcing construction standards.
