Kwara State Invests in Healthcare to Boost Public Confidence

The Kwara State government, led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, is making significant investments to restore public confidence in its healthcare system. The state has historically faced challenges due to underinvestment, resulting in poor conditions for public health facilities.

Recent reforms include upgrading nearly 200 primary healthcare centers and modernizing secondary facilities, supported by the World Bank. The Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) has been transformed into a specialist healthcare center, featuring the largest intensive care unit in North Central Nigeria.

The administration has prioritized modern diagnostic infrastructure, acquiring advanced equipment such as a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine and a 160-slice CT scanner. Additionally, a new oncology center is being constructed in partnership with ASR Africa to improve access to cancer diagnosis and treatment.

These initiatives aim to enhance healthcare outcomes and reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state.
