Abia APC Holds Emergency Meeting for Primary Elections

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for an emergency meeting to discuss the House of Representatives primary election set for May 16, 2026. The statement issued by the party's public secretary, Uch Aguoru, emphasized that attendance is mandatory for all stakeholders and aspirants.

The meeting will take place at the new party secretariat along Finbarr's Road in Umuahia at 4:00 PM. This meeting is crucial as it will set the stage for the commencement of the primary election process, which has faced delays and confusion among party members.

Sources within the party indicated that the postponement of the primary election is linked to allegations of the seizure of sensitive electoral materials, creating tension among members, particularly in the Abia South senatorial district. Aggrieved party members have expressed disappointment over the situation, arguing that internal disorganization could weaken the party's chances against the administration of Governor Alex Otti in the upcoming 2027 elections.
