Abia APC Calls for Unity as 99 Aspirants Compete

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing for its primaries, with 99 aspirants vying for 36 electoral positions in the 2027 general elections. During a pre-primary engagement at the party's secretariat in Umuahia, leaders, including Hon.

Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, stressed the importance of unity and discipline among members to avoid internal crises. A report indicated that 64 aspirants have purchased forms for 24 seats in the Abia State House of Assembly, while others are contesting for eight federal constituencies and three senatorial slots.

Kalu urged aspirants to accept outcomes in good faith, emphasizing that political power comes from God and that the party must not fracture. He reiterated that there would be no automatic tickets and that the process would be credible.

The APC leadership, including party chairman Hon. Chijiok Chukwu, underscored that success in the primaries is crucial for achieving victory in the 2027 elections.
