Erondu Rejects Claims of APC Ticket Substitution for 2027

Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jr., the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Abia South Senatorial District, has publicly rejected reports of his name being substituted for the 2027 general election. In a statement signed on Saturday, Erondu described the alleged substitution as unlawful and unconstitutional, affirming his status as the duly nominated candidate.

He won the APC primary election on May 16, 2026, across 65 electoral wards in six local government areas, with results declared by the APC National Working Committee in the presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Department of State Services. Erondu received a Certified True Copy of the primary election results on June 30, 2026.

He criticized the reports suggesting his replacement by Paul Ikonne, stating such actions violate the Electoral Act, 2026, which allows for candidate substitution only under specific conditions. Erondu emphasized he has not withdrawn his candidature and called for the protection of his mandate by the APC National Working Committee and INEC.
