Abia APC Primaries: Ikonne and Nwogu Claim Victory

The Abia APC primaries have sparked controversy as stakeholders assert that Paul Ikonne and Samuel Nwogu emerged victorious, while the Abia State working committee declared Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr as the winner. The claims of Ikonne and Nwogu's victory were supported by a pro-APC group that met in Aba, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for their support.

Chinw Nwanganga, a spokesman for the stakeholders, emphasized the need for transparency and credible processes in the primaries. The group argued for equitable representation, noting that Obingwa LGA has not held the Abia South Senate seat for 20 years.

The APC, through its public secretary Uch Aguoru, dismissed allegations of irregularities, asserting that the primaries were supervised by INEC and that the results were clear. Aguoru stated that the APC does not operate on zoning policies and selects candidates based on their winnability.
