Labour Party's Onwunem Defends Otti Against APC Criticism

Nwabuez Onwunem, a chieftain of the Labour Party, has publicly defended Governor Alex Otti of Abia State against criticisms from the APC chairman, Hon. Chijiok Chukwu.

Chukwu described Otti's decision to reside in a private home as uninformed and misplaced, arguing that it could negatively impact the city's economy and the proposed five-star hotel project in Umuahia. In response, Onwunem dismissed these criticisms, stating they stem from ignorance and a failed attempt to impress an audience.

He highlighted that Otti's infrastructural strides have been significant and beneficial for the citizens, particularly in Umuahia. Onwunem pointed out that the economic and social value of the proposed hotel would greatly enhance Umuahia's profile, creating jobs and attracting investments.

He also noted that Otti's choice to live in a private residence is not unprecedented among Nigerian leaders and should not detract from his governance. Onwunem urged opposition figures to provide constructive criticism rather than engage in politically weak attacks.
