Abia Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Suspect

The Abia State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnap victim, Onyebuchi Nwaoha, aged 46, and arrested a suspect, Ibrahim Audu, aged 42, during a tactical operation in Old Umuahia, Abia State. The operation, which involved the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), took place in the Ogwashi Forest, believed to be a hideout for kidnappers.

During the operation, police engaged in a gun duel with the criminal gang, leading to the apprehension of Audu while others fled the scene. The police recovered ₦830,000, which was reportedly collected as ransom from the victim's family.

Abia State Police Commissioner, Danladi Isa, stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the kidnapping syndicate. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting lives and property in the state and urged the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information.
