Abia State University Announces Historic Triple Convocation

Abia State University, located in Uturu, is preparing for a historic triple convocation ceremony scheduled from March 25 to March 27, 2026, which will confer degrees to 10,255 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs. Vice Chancellor Professor Ndukw J.

Okeudo announced this during a press briefing on Tuesday, emphasizing the institution's research gains, particularly in health sciences, renewable energy, and agriculture. The university has cleared a backlog of staff promotions, with 951 staff members promoted between 2022 and 2025, and has implemented policies to enhance staff welfare.

The convocation will also honor notable figures, including Ooni Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and business leader Allen Onyema. Professor Okeudo noted a steady increase in student intake, with 4,756 students for the 2023/2024 session and 7,509 for 2025/2026.

The university has also restored access to TETFund interventions, enabling the approval of 33 research proposals. The event will feature various activities, including exhibitions and a football match.
