Ogun State's Dapo Abiodun Empowers 100,000 Women

Under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State has implemented a comprehensive women’s agenda that focuses on economic empowerment and social inclusion. The administration has empowered around 100,000 women through initiatives such as the Oko’wo Dapo program, which was relaunched in 2022 and initially provided livelihood grants to 2,094 women.

By January 2026, over ₦5 billion will have been invested in women-focused livelihood programs, with ₦3 billion from the World Bank-supported Nigeria for Women Project and ₦2 billion from Ogun State. The program has reportedly empowered about 55,000 women.

Additionally, 8,759 Women Affinity Groups have been established, involving 247,273 women across the state's 20 Local Government Areas. Governor Abiodun's proposal to institutionalize Oko’wo Dapo as a statewide Women’s Trust Fund aims to create a sustainable framework for these initiatives.

The collaboration with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu further aligns Ogun’s programs with national initiatives on women’s economic empowerment.
