Abuja Teacher Kidnapped While Harvesting Maize, Family Struggles to Raise Ransom

Ishaya Ismaila, a primary school teacher in Abuja, was abducted by bandits while harvesting maize in Tungan Maje, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The incident occurred on October 16, 2025, with Abdullahi Garba witnessing the kidnapping.

Ishaya's wife, Halima Ishaya, reported the incident to the police but no progress has been made. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N1 million for his release, prompting a public plea for help.

Additionally, there are reports of suspected kidnappers holding residents hostage in the Chikakor area of Abuja, leading to concerns about growing insecurity in the region.
