Wike Orders Demolition of Criminal Hide-Out in Abuja

On Friday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), ordered the demolition of Ruga, an illegal settlement near Karmajiji in Kukwaba District, following an FCT Security Committee meeting. Wike described the settlement as a suspected criminal hide-out, stating that intelligence reports indicated it was frequented by criminals after committing attacks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He emphasized the need to eliminate such locations, referring to them as "time bombs" that threaten public safety. Wike directed the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, to collaborate with the Director of Development Control to carry out the demolition.

He reiterated the administration's commitment to dismantling criminal enclaves and ensuring the safety of lives and property in Abuja, asserting that anyone using these locations for criminal activities would face legal consequences.
