Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Enhances Electricity Access

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State announced a significant initiative to enhance electricity access, declaring that it will no longer be a privilege for a few urban centers but a right for every community. During a ceremony, he outlined plans to deploy 600 transformers and 10,000 solar-powered street lights across 23 local governments.

The governor emphasized that reliable electricity is essential for health services, education, and economic development. He noted the administration's commitment to reviving previously stalled power projects, including a solar mini-grid installation at 190 primary health care centers, which will deliver 1.35 megawatts of clean energy.

Additionally, he mentioned the rehabilitation of critical power lines and the restoration of high and low tension networks. A landmark memorandum of understanding was signed on October 22, 2025, for a 1.5 megawatt rural electrification project at Kaduna Polytechnic and an 8 megawatt project at Ahmadu Bello University, aimed at boosting local manufacturing and overall economic growth.
