Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Promises Universal Electricity Access

On a recent occasion, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna declared that access to electricity will no longer be a privilege for a few urban centers but a right for every community. He made this announcement during the flag-off of a project aimed at distributing 600 transformers and deploying 10,000 solar-powered street lights across 23 local governments.

The governor emphasized that reliable electricity is essential for enabling various sectors, including welding, tailoring, and manufacturing, which are crucial for economic growth. He noted that the administration had previously abandoned power projects but is now committed to revitalizing the energy sector.

The governor also highlighted the completion of solar mini-grid installations at 190 primary health care centers, delivering 1.35 megawatts of clean energy. Additionally, he mentioned the restoration of 32 abandoned systems and the completion of a 2x60MVA 132/33kV substation in the Green Economic Zone at Maraban Jos, which will serve as an industrial catalyst to unlock investment potential in Kaduna.
