Accountants Urged to Embrace Technology at ABU Lecture

During the inaugural lecture at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, titled “From Financial Reporting Gobbledgook to Inevitability: Human Resource Assetization in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Era and Beyond,” Prof. Salisu Abubakar, a Professor of Accounting and Financial Reporting, called on accountants to embrace emerging technological trends to maintain relevance in the evolving global economy. He noted that the transition from the information era to a knowledge-based era, driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is creating new demands for professionals.

Abubakar highlighted the challenges faced by accountants in adapting to changes in business operations and financial reporting. He advocated for the formal adoption of Human Resource Accounting, stressing that accountants must develop multidisciplinary skills to effectively manage human asset data.

The Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the value of the university's personnel as its greatest assets.
