ADC National Convention Accreditation Begins Amid Security Concerns

Accreditation for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention began at the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki, Abuja, with no fewer than 3,000 delegates arriving from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The event showcased the party's unity and diversity.

Security personnel conducted thorough checks to grant access, supervised by the accreditation sub-committee chaired by Austin Akobundu. Chinedu Idigo, the national organizing secretary, explained that delegate allocation was determined by state size to ensure equitable representation.

However, Idigo expressed dissatisfaction regarding challenges faced by the party, particularly concerning security and venue hosting. Several private business owners declined to host the ADC due to alleged external pressures and threats.

The party had to proceed with the Rainbow Event Centre despite initial attempts to cancel, citing significant financial losses due to the inability of businesses to operate freely without intimidation. The convention is set to conclude with the party's congress ratifying a new constitution, paving the way for the party's primaries.
