Mercy Johnson Okojie Appointed Special Adviser in Edo

Mercy Johnson Okojie, a prominent Nollywood actress, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy by Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo. The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by Musa Ikhilor, the Secretary to the State Government.

The appointment aims to strengthen the connection between the government and citizens, improving public participation in state policy programs. Johnson Okojie, who has had a successful career in the film industry spanning nearly two decades and featuring in over 200 Nollywood films, has received several industry recognitions, including the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award.

Governor Okpebholo noted that beyond her entertainment career, Johnson Okojie is committed to promoting civic awareness and community development through her humanitarian initiatives, particularly focusing on women's empowerment and child welfare via her foundation. This appointment marks her second political role, having previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Art, and Culture under former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
