Adamawa Evacuates University of Jos Students Amid Attacks

The Adamawa State government has commenced the evacuation of students from the University of Jos due to a deteriorating security situation characterized by recent violent attacks. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosik, announced that the evacuation would be conducted with heavy police escorts to ensure the safe movement of the affected students.

This decision follows a tragic incident on the night of April 3, 2026, when gunmen attacked the Nyango Gyel rural community, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Reports indicate that the violence has intensified since March 29, 2026, when gunmen opened fire on civilians returning from church services in the Angwan Rukuba community, leading to 26 reported fatalities.

The government is taking precautionary measures to safeguard the lives of students amid this ongoing crisis.
