Adamawa Governor Fintiri Imposes Curfew in Lamurde

On a late Sunday announcement, Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri declared a 24-hour curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area to address escalating violence stemming from a long-standing communal conflict. The curfew took immediate effect and aims to restore peace after reports indicated multiple fatalities, with initial reports citing two deaths, later confirmed to be six.

The violence reportedly escalated when Bachaman youth allegedly invaded a village belonging to the Chobo community. Governor Fintiri emphasized that the administration would not tolerate violence and warned that any group violating the curfew would face immediate arrest and prosecution.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the outbreak of violence and promised to monitor the situation closely. This curfew marks the fourth time in six months that such measures have been implemented in the area, which has seen over 30 lives lost due to the ongoing conflict.
