Fintiri Imposes Curfew in Lamurde Amid Violence

In response to renewed violent attacks that have disrupted peace in Lamurde Local Government Area, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has imposed a 24-hour curfew effective immediately. The decision aims to restore order following a breach of peace within the community.

A statement from the governor's office emphasized that security agencies are directed to enforce the curfew strictly, which will remain in place until further notice. Residents are urged to comply with the curfew to assist security agencies in ensuring peaceful coexistence.

The governor warned that anyone found violating the curfew would face arrest and prosecution. Spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroj, confirmed that there have been casualties due to the violence, although the exact numbers were not verified at the time of the report.

The clashes are reportedly linked to disputes over farmland and demands for the Chobo community to separate from the traditional chieftaincy of the Bachawa council.
