Two Feared Dead in Adamawa Communal Clash

A communal crisis in Adamawa State has led to the feared deaths of two individuals, as reported by the Adamawa State Police Command's spokesman, Suleiman Nguroj. The violence erupted on Saturday night when suspected Chobo youths invaded Lamurd town and opened fire, prompting a confrontation with Bachaman youths.

Heavily armed police have been deployed to restore order, but a full casualty report has yet to be received. This incident marks the latest escalation in a protracted land dispute between the two communities, which has seen violence resulting in the deaths of 30 people, particularly women, over the past year.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had previously invited warring groups to the government house in Yola to broker peace, but just three days after a truce was reached, violence erupted again, claiming 18 lives. The governor had lifted a curfew in Lamurd last month, believing stability had returned to the area.

As of now, the Adamawa State government has not issued an official statement regarding the recent incident.
