Adamawa Governor Pardons Farmer Sentenced to Death for Killing Herder in Self-Defense

Adamawa State Governor granted a pardon to Sundai Jackson, a local farmer sentenced to death by the Supreme Court for killing a herder in self-defense. The pardon was signed on Monday under Section 212 of the Nigerian Constitution after sustained appeals from community leaders and the victim's family.

Jackson, who was attacked on his farm in 2015 resulting in a fatal altercation, had spent years in custody. Governor Fintiri's gesture of mercy was extended to commemorate the Christmas and New Year celebrations, acknowledging Jackson's improved behavior.
