Adamawa South Senator Bino Yaro Joins ADC from PDP

Bino Yaro, the Senator for Adamawa South, has officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This decision was confirmed during a press briefing in Yola, where Yaro stated that he chose ADC over the All Progressives Congress (APC) to encourage a robust opposition in Nigeria's multi-party political landscape.

He highlighted the significant role played by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his political career, particularly during his first Senate contest in 2019 and his second term bid in 2023. Yaro's defection comes after he formally resigned from the PDP on February 19, following consultations with political allies.

He expressed concerns about the fracturing of the PDP and the risks associated with remaining in the party, especially with the upcoming 2027 elections in mind. His move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen opposition parties, as several senators from different parties, including the Labour Party and APGA, have also decided to join the ADC.
