Senator Yaroe Defects to ADC from PDP, Cites Risks

Senator Yaroe, representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, has officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He announced this decision during a press conference in Yola, Adamawa State, explaining that the move was necessary to strengthen opposition politics and promote a healthier multi-party democratic system in Nigeria.

Yaroe highlighted the significant role played by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his political journey, noting Abubakar's support during his previous electoral contests in 2019 and 2023. He expressed concerns about the ongoing crises within the PDP, which he believes pose serious political risks for members planning to contest future elections.

Yaroe formally resigned from the PDP on February 19 and engaged in discussions with several opposition parties, including the Labour Party and the Progressive Grand Alliance, before deciding to join the ADC. His aim is to build a stronger political platform capable of offering Nigerians a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
