ADC Accuses ICPC of Assaulting El-Rufai's Wife, Arresting Doctor

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) accused the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) of assaulting Nasir El-Rufai's wife and arresting her physician during a hospital visit in Abuja. In a statement issued on Tuesday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi condemned the ICPC's handling of the situation, alleging that officials ignored medical advice for El-Rufai's treatment and insisted on returning him to custody.

The incident escalated when the physician objected to the decision, leading to a scuffle and subsequent arrest. The ADC argued that the events surrounding the hospital visit reflect a pattern of political persecution against El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State.

They called for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure unrestricted access for El-Rufai's family and legal representatives. The ICPC later announced the arrest of the physician, Bello Abubakar, for allegedly making false statements regarding El-Rufai's medical visit, claiming he violated court orders.
