ADC Criticizes ICPC Over El-Rufai's Physician Arrest

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) condemned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding the arrest of Nasir El-Rufai's personal physician, Prof. Bello Abubakar.

The ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, claimed that El-Rufai's wife was assaulted during a hospital visit, and that the ICPC denied El-Rufai access to necessary medical care, violating his constitutional rights. El-Rufai was reportedly taken to a national hospital in Abuja for treatment, following a recommendation from his physician, but the ICPC insisted he return to custody despite medical advice.

The ADC accused the ICPC of political persecution and demanded an explanation for the denial of access to El-Rufai's physician and the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault on his wife. The party also called for greater transparency from the ICPC and criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allowing the agency to be used for political intimidation.
