ADC Demands Probe into Mary Habila’s Death at Umahi's Residence

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly demanded an independent investigation into the death of Mary Habila, which reportedly took place at the official residence of Minister David Umahi. In a statement obtained on Wednesday, the ADC, represented by its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, expressed serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding Habila's death, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.

The party stated that the matter is no longer a private issue for the cabinet and called for a thorough investigation, including a comprehensive autopsy. The ADC urged Umahi to step aside from his ministerial duties pending the outcome of the investigation, highlighting the gravity of the situation, particularly given Habila's status as a young woman in public service.

The party also criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to subject its officials to independent scrutiny in cases of alleged misconduct, asserting that any lack of transparency would only fuel public suspicion and weaken confidence in governmental institutions.
