ADC Chieftain Alleges Plot to Weaken Opposition Parties

Adnan, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a former aspirant for the Kano State House of Assembly, has alleged a plot to weaken opposition parties in Nigeria. He described the ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC as an abuse of democracy during an interview.

The crisis reportedly began when the party's national working committee was dissolved, leading to the emergence of new leadership, which includes David Mark as chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as secretary. Adnan explained that individuals approached the court to obtain an order directing the party to maintain the status quo, resulting in the removal of names from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

He suggested that the crisis is not ordinary and is driven by fear of a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Despite the controversy, Adnan expressed confidence that the judiciary would safeguard Nigeria's democracy and warned that weakening opposition parties could have long-term consequences for the country.
