ADC Condemns Persecution of El-Rufai in Kaduna

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the alleged persecution of Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, the opposition leader in Kaduna, and other political figures. In a statement read by Professor Sani Bello Mainan Zazzau, a former commissioner for local government, the ADC highlighted a pattern of politically motivated actions against El-Rufai, including a ministerial snub and proceedings in the Kaduna State House of Assembly aimed at undermining his political stance.

The ADC criticized the continued arrest and detention of former governor associates, such as Bashir Saidu and Ibrahim Sani, describing these actions as part of a broader attempt to intimidate opposition figures. They raised concerns about the misuse of security and anti-corruption agencies, noting that these agencies have yet to establish credible evidence against El-Rufai.

The ADC also pointed out the harsh conditions of prolonged detention and violations of fundamental human rights. They called for an immediate end to politically motivated prosecutions and urged authorities to ensure fair legal processes.
