ADC Condemns Assassination Attempt on Peter Obi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) condemned an assassination attempt on its leader, Peter Obi, in Edo State, describing the gun attack as a deliberate act aimed at intimidating political opponents. The statement, signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of fostering a pattern of political violence and intimidation against opposition figures nationwide.

The ADC highlighted that the shooting was not random but a calculated effort to frighten and silence political adversaries. They expressed concern over past remarks allegedly made by Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo, who suggested that Obi's safety during visits to the state could not be guaranteed.

The ADC also accused the governor of sponsoring cult groups to threaten opposition members and warned that such reckless actions could escalate tensions. They urged their members to remain vigilant and continue political activities without fear, while also indicating that they would report the incident to diplomatic missions and human rights organizations.
