ADC Chairman Accuses APC of Undermining Opposition

Kola Ologbondiya, the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed concerns regarding the political landscape in Nigeria, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of not wanting a viable opposition. During an interview on Arise Television, Ologbondiya discussed the recent crisis within the ADC, which he attributed to the stripping of David Mark, the former Senate President, of his position as national chairman.

He alleged that the APC is sponsoring protests against the ADC leadership, which he believes is detrimental to democracy. Ologbondiya emphasized that since the return to democracy in 1999, there has been an expectation for growth in a multi-party system, but the current situation reflects a shift towards a single-party state.

He urged the president to discourage divisive tactics that threaten the democratic process, noting that the ADC's internal issues stem from external pressures rather than genuine party concerns.
