Katsina Court Orders Status Quo Amid ADC Leadership Crisis

The High Court in Katsina State issued an order on Tuesday, presided over by Justice K. Tukur, to maintain the status quo amid a leadership crisis within the ADC.

The court's decision came after an ex parte application filed by Usman Wamba, the state chairman of the party, who alleged that the defendants were attempting to usurp his authority. The court granted an interim injunction restraining the ADC national leadership and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing or supervising any congress related to the Katsina chapter until the motion is heard.

The substantive suit is scheduled for April 15, 2026. This order effectively freezes any actions linked to the disputed congress until the court hears the matter.

Additionally, Mustapha Inuwa, a party leader, emphasized the need for consensus among members to ensure a peaceful process leading up to the congress, which is expected to begin on April 9, 2026.
