Leadership Crisis Deepens in Edo ADC Over Chairmanship

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State is currently embroiled in a leadership crisis centered around the chairmanship dispute. Roland Owi, a member of the party's National Executive Council (NEC), has accused the party's national leader, Chief John Odigi Oyegun, of trying to impose loyalists within the state.

Owi highlighted that he is the Edo South senatorial leader and that the state chairmanship position is contested within the Edo South senatorial district, specifically micro-zoned to Oredo Local Government Area. In a recent mini-primary, Dr.

Mike Ehima emerged victorious with 75 votes against Toni Alil, who received only four votes. Owi noted that the conduct of local government congresses has been peaceful, despite allegations of maneuvers from the party's national headquarters in Abuja to replace Ehima.

Oyegun has denied any involvement in the congresses, asserting that no valid congress was held, and Kelli Odion, the former Edo State chairman, has maintained that the leadership issue should be resolved in Abuja.
