ADC Demands Answers After Army General's Convoy Ambush

The Kebbi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for urgent explanations from the state government regarding a recent ambush on the convoy of Major General Bemgha Koughna, the officer commanding the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army. The ambush occurred near Mayama Hill in the Maiyama Local Government Area, where troops reportedly repelled the attack, neutralizing five terrorists and recovering weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and cash amounting to 840,000 Naira.

ADC state chairman Bala Sufiyanu described the ambush as a serious alarm, highlighting the fragile security situation in Kebbi State. He commended the troops for their professionalism but questioned the government's knowledge of terrorist activities prior to the attack and the effectiveness of security measures in place.

The ADC has urged Governor Nasir Idris to provide a comprehensive security briefing to citizens and has called for legislative oversight to strengthen security operations in the state.
