ADC Demands Security Briefing After GOC Convoy Ambush

The Kebbi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded an urgent explanation from the state government regarding security measures after an ambush on the convoy of Major General Bemgha Koughna, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army. The attack occurred near Mayama Hill in the Maiyama Local Government Area, where troops successfully repelled the assault, neutralizing five terrorists and recovering weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and cash amounting to 840,000 Naira.

The ADC, led by its state chairman Bala Sufiyanu, expressed concern over the fragile security situation in Kebbi State, emphasizing that if military leaders are vulnerable to attacks, farmers are even more exposed. Sufiyanu called on Governor Nasir Idris to provide a comprehensive security briefing and questioned the intelligence measures in place to prevent such incidents.

The ADC also urged the National Assembly, led by Senator Adamu Aliero, to intervene and strengthen security operations in the state.
