ADC Demands Arrest of Ikwerre LG Chair After Convoy Attack

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the arrest of Charl Wobodo, the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, in response to an attack on the convoy of former Rivers State Governor Amaechi on March 6, 2026. The incident occurred as Amaechi was traveling along the Omuanwa axis to his hometown, Ubima.

The ADC's Rivers State Chairman, Bari, dismissed claims that the road was blocked by party members, asserting that the individuals involved were hoodlums associated with a vigilante group. Bari alleged that the attack was initiated by these individuals who opened fire on the security personnel accompanying Amaechi's convoy.

The ADC has urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and compel the Ikwerre Local Government Chairman to provide information to help clarify the circumstances surrounding the attack. Templ Chinedu, the ADC Chairman for Ikwerre Local Government Area, claimed that party members had received threats suggesting they should not hold political meetings in the area, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.
