ADC Accuses APC of Orchestrating Attack on Amaechi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairman of orchestrating an attack on the convoy of former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi. ADC leader Chizi Enyi described the incident as a coordinated political move aimed at intimidating opposition members in Rivers State.

The crisis reportedly began earlier in the week when ADC offices in Ubima, Amaechi's hometown, were vandalized. The attack on Amaechi's convoy occurred around 1-2 AM on a Friday, following a series of roadblocks set up by security operatives, which delayed vehicles and caused confusion.

Enyi criticized local authorities for their statements following the incident, suggesting they attempted to shift blame rather than condemn the violence. He expressed disappointment that the Rivers State government had not issued a strong public condemnation of the attack, raising concerns about the safety of political actors and ordinary citizens.

Enyi warned that if such incidents continue, they could threaten political activities leading up to the 2027 elections.
