ADC's Nwosu Discusses Zoning for 2027 Presidential Ticket

Nwosu, the founder and former chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), addressed the issue of zoning the presidential ticket for the upcoming 2027 general elections in an interview with Punch. He stated that the ADC would adopt an open approach to its presidential ticket, allowing equal opportunities for all regions.

Nwosu highlighted the ongoing debate regarding zoning during coalition discussions, particularly among northern stakeholders advocating for a fair political history since 1999. He explained that the party is considering two options for selecting its presidential candidate: consensus and direct primaries.

Nwosu noted that several prominent political figures, including Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, have expressed willingness to support whoever emerges as the ADC's candidate. He also mentioned the importance of transparency in the party's approach and indicated that David Mark's leadership would be crucial to ensuring credible primaries.
